The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) (www.rgs.org), the UK’s learned society and professional body for geography, has selected oomi to provide a new CRM and Members’ Portal to support their future vision and strategy.
The Society was founded in 1830 to advance geographical science and this remains its core purpose. It supports geographical research, education, and fieldwork and expeditions, as well as advocating on behalf of the discipline, supporting geographers in professional practice, and promoting geography to public audiences. As a charity, learned society and professional body, it serves an exceptionally wide range of public and professional audiences, including 16,000 members, and reaches millions of people each year through its work to advance geography and support geographers.
The Society recognised that while its existing membership CRM had served it well for the 10 years since implementation, it was now at the end of it’s anticipated economic useful life.
“After a thorough review of potential replacement CRM systems, oomi was chosen for its intuitive browser-based user interface and integrated web portal,” said Andrew Munro, Head of Finance and Services at the Society.
oomi will provide a cloud-based single platform solution, with the core fundamental modules to meet functional requirements across CRM, membership, events, finance, committees, grants and awards, and fundraising, as well as an integrated members’ portal.
oomi will also integrate with key third-party systems, such as the SAGE accounting package, direct debit payment solutions, and the Mailchimp email management software, to improve workflow efficiency and data integrity.
Once implemented, oomi will provide access to a wide range of online self-service elements for members. It is also anticipated that oomi will deliver process efficiencies through, for example, BI automation, as well as better access for staff working remotely and the resilience benefits offered by a cloud-based platform.
Joel Trotman, Director of Sales at oomi, commented: “We are immensely proud that the Society has embraced our holistic approach to membership management technology. As our systems have been developed from the ground up solely to meet the needs of membership bodies, we can provide the functionality and flexibility leading organisations such as the Society need out of the box. We look forward to building a long and successful relationship with them.”
