The Geographical Association (GA) has recently selected oomi™ to provide a modern CRM and CMS infrastructure that will enable it to deliver on its strategic plan 2020-2025. This aims to better connect geography educators with one another and with the Association, to help nurture teachers’ professional skills and knowledge throughout their careers.
The GA is the leading subject association for teachers of geography. Based in Sheffield, it has a membership of more than 10,000 of which around 2,400 are group memberships. The GA’s mission is to ‘further geographical knowledge and understanding through education’. The Association publishes a number of journals, as well as providing a wealth of teaching resources on its website. In addition, the GA organises a wide variety of professional events, training programmes and conferences as well as offering consultancy services to schools.
“Teachers of geography need support tailored for their individual circumstances and provided in a timely fashion. Working with oomi, our ambition is to personalise the GA membership experience,” said Alan Kinder, GA Chief Executive.
oomi will be providing the core CRM for membership management, as well developing the GA’s main website and member web pages. Other modules will support management of events, finance, committees, sales and case management for GA consultancy services. There will also be key integrations with reporting tool Microsoft PowerBI, Mailchimp for bulk emailing, accounting software SAGE50, and payment solutions GoCardless and WorldPay.
“This investment in technology will deliver further efficiency and integration around GA membership management and provide a ‘single source of the truth’ for member activity. This will enable the GA to provide members with a more personalised experience and search, and allow it to better support changing member needs. Oomi, with their membership sector experience and CRM and digital capabilities, seemed the perfect fit for us,” remarked Mr. Kinder.
Joel Trotman, Sales Director at oomi, commented, “Integration between CRM and website, enabling personalisation of content and member experience, is crucial to any membership organisation in retaining and recruiting members. We are thrilled that the GA has recognised our capabilities in delivering successful projects to the sector and we look forward to helping it provide a more engaging service to members using our technology.”
